JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST (July 08, 2019) – Cadet Second Lieutenant Alanna Hendrickson accepted command of cadets in Civil Air Patrol's McGuire Composite Squadron today during a change of command ceremony. Cadet Second Lieutenant Joshua Thomas is the outgoing commander. Capt Dan Riordan, Deputy Commander of Cadet Programs, presided over the ceremony which took place at the squadron’s offices.

The Change of Command ceremony marks the responsibility of command being passed from the outgoing to the incoming commander.

Since becoming a member, Hendrickson has fostered notable leadership skills by holding positions on the cadet chain of command with increasing levels of responsibility. She developed her skills and leadership abilities through training and by advancing through the cadet program.

Hendrickson has earned the General Billy Mitchell Award. She is a certified emergency services ground team member. She has attended two Civil Air Patrol encampments and a Glider Academy,

“Among my goals for the squadron is getting new cadets to develop a keen interest in aviation and emergency services,” Hendrickson said. “But most important, I want to motivate our cadets so they enjoy participating in Civil Air Patrol activities as much as I do.”

Cadet Caleb Daniels was promoted to Cadet Second Lieutenant and received the General Billy Mitchell Award. The award has existed since 1964 and honors the late General Billy Mitchell, an aviation pioneer, advocate, and staunch supporter of an independent air force for America.

Cadet Lorenzo Diventura was awarded the Robert Goddard Award and promoted to Cadet Chief Master Sergeant. The Goddard Award is named for Robert Goddard, considered the "Father of Modern Rocketry" and developer of the first liquid-fueled rocket. The award is received after completing a series of training and tests on leadership in effective communications, character and physical fitness.

Cadet Caleb Daniels was awarded the NCO of the Month and Cadet Philip Lopiccolo received Cadet of the Month for outstanding performance in June.

Senior Member Joy Hoschek was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant. She is the squadron’s administrative and testing officer.
