Cadets Spend an Evening with the Stars

A dozen Civil Air Patrol cadets from the McGuire Composite Squadron recently visited the Simpson Observatory in Washington Crossing Park for a night of stargazing.

Members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton showed cadets galaxies, planets, the moon and other phenomena through research-grade Celestron 14-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and an historic Hasting-Byrne refractor scope.

AAAP members talked with cadets about space and did some pointing and star-hopping to teach cadets how to find their way around the night sky.
